No matter how you know Elaine, she will light up your life. One of the most selfless people we know, Elaine has dedicated her life to taking care of others and always goes out of her way to put a smile on someone's face.
Elaine is in kidney failure.
This means her kidneys do not function on their own. In order to survive, she is receiving 3 treatments every week, in and out of the ER from treatment-related complications -- all while balancing 12-hour nursing shifts and enjoying what little free time she can find.
Most people don't understand the physical toll dialysis takes on the body. Elaine has experienced many side effects of dialysis, including cardiac issues and many nights in the hospital. The process is so exhausting on the mind, the body and the soul.
